World Wetland Day Observed in Chhattisgarh

On the occasion of the World Wetland Day (2 February 2017), a 2-day Workshop (2-3 February) was organised by the State Planning Commission, Govt of Chhattisgarh, jointly with the National Institute of Ecology and the Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur. Four Wetland Briefs on for important wetlan areas which include potential Ramsar sites and a Karst wetland were published together with a Brief Report on Status of Wetlands and Policy Perspectives in Chhattisgarh. The publications can be downloaded here.

Status Paper-CG Wetlands

The positive outcome of the Workshop was the setting up of a State Wetland Authority in the State and a focus on wetlands by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dr Raman Sngh ji, in his monthly Radio address to the people.
